Murdock literally has the appearance of what I would draw (if I had the talent) of a human version of the devil.

He or the younger guy who resembles him are often on either the Harvest or Inspiraton network about the time my husband and I go to bed. We have a joke: "How long do you think it will be until he asks for money?" It's usually within the first 2 minutes after we hit the channel in our surfing.

I'm not sure I've ever heard either of the 2 guys talk about sin or salvation.

I feel sorry for the people who are caught up in the net of deception that all of these money preachers are pulling in. I would imagine that they are scaring away just as many as they attract with their sales routine. "God told me that there are seven who are hearing my voice now that need to send 1000.00". Oh really? God comes down exclusively to you to give you some information to give to people who are looking to triple their investment into your (snake oil) television ministry? "If you don't send any money we won't be able to stay on the air". How will we feed their egos anymore if we don't see them begging for money every day? What I am finding out is that all of these television "get your VISA card ready" preachers are all connected. They make the circuit and compete for the "seed". Luke 17:26 "just as it was in the days of Noah...so also will it be at the second coming of the Son of Man". But these preachers have to realize that they are sowing seed too...

Steve,

Beside it being said by Rush, I think you miss the bigger picture of what Bush and the government did. Why do they have to regulate our light bulbs in our house? Is a national emergency? What else should they regulate out of existence?

These two articles sum up the unintended consequences of government intervention - loss of jobs, silly regulations and increase health risk. (yes, they are written from a right of center perspective, but still has good information.)

Plus I think you should give Rush a month of straight listening to sort through his blow-hardness and his perspective on events. If it didn't make your head explode. :)

Well said Steve. Thanks for taking the time to articulate this so well.

I continue to bristle at the demonization that both sides participate in so freely. Either Obama is a demigod or else he's satan incarnate. There's very little balance, it seems.

And you are right that armed conflict about this issue seems ludicrous. What would be our battle cry? "DON'T MESS WITH THE STATUS QUO!"? Crazy talk.

I will say though, that the radical side of me sort of wants things to get harder for Christians in this country. I think if things really got bad (and no, I don't think our current downturn has been that bad), our faith would FINALLY be forced to have some teeth. And perhaps we would wake up from our complacent slumber to live radical lives that actually change the world.

Great, inspiring endorsement! That speech was the most inspiring I've ever heard. Obama is not just a politician who says what he thinks he needs to say to get elected - these are things he truly believes; including especially that we are all responsible for each other - it's a society, not a bunch of people each *only* caring about their own selfish needs. That isn't to say that society's needs are paramount - but that we have to acknowledge that we all do have some shared responsibilities, and meeting those makes all of us stronger and better (and safer) - like health care.

I would hope you'll keep an open mind about Bob Roggio (vs. Gerlach). Listen to him talk about health care, about investing in our future (education and infrastructure), and about how his company provided for the employees - health care, helping HS dropouts get their GEDs go on to college. I've had a few chances to talk to him, and he's a good man, who truly believes in community service (and has lived it, long before he considered politics).
